Cow with Digital Dermatitis +tail paint+Eprinex pour-on

This is how i treat severe cases of D D. Also applying tail paint for aiding heat detection and dosing cows with eprinex. That small tub of Linco Spectam powder cost £66 ($132 US) The pack of Eprinex for worming dairy cattle cost a staggering £350 ($700 US) It would be interesting to know how much these products cost in other parts of the world. Music by Canadian Julie Doiron. Like to play her calm music when doing stressful work like foot trimming

What would happen if you put one at the entrance of the parlour permanently?

Not as often as i should once a week is recommended by my vet

Do you use a foot bath?

Cows are so cute.

oi lad focud on getting the stuff in the bottle not eh film haha : )

Thanks

mortelaro (mortelaro`s disease)is the name of the person widely accepted as the person who discovered the disease, linco spectin is not licensed for use on cattle in the uk,so called cures for digital dermatitis range from washing with ordinary water and drying to the ones mentioned and many others not mentioned.
some work some don`t.some will cause more serious problems than the one you are trying to cure.

EH !! ????????????????????? lol

ever feel like your playing bingo?

I would love to fly over to WDE 08 Not sure if i can find the time and money. Maybe !

mortal arrow - Never heard of that ! Seems a strange name for DD :) I have used formaldehyde in the past but is nasty stuff to work with so tried something different. I think i have seen those scratch cards for cows but never tried them and thanks in advance for checking the price of eprinex

Formaldahyde will solve the DD problem. The stuff is very painful for the cow not mention that it is a known carcinogen. We used spray it on directly or mix it in a footbath with copper sulfate.

hi cowboy any plans to visit usa, world dairy expo.i live five hours north from Madison Wisconsin. I trim cow feet.

You look after your cows so well. Isn’t Formaldahyde dangerous?

very educational vid.. again.. we call what that cow has mortal arrow?? have u heard of dat?? wat we do is spray it with a solution of formaldehyde.. dats what our hoof pairer does!!! works well but i dont think u can buy formaldehyde ne more.. we dont use tail paint we use the scratch cards they quite good!! they av silver on top n when a cow mount de silver comes off wen its bout 75% time to AI cow!! will find out price of eprinex 4 u!!

THis is the first time i have used the tail paint. When another cow mounts her when she in in heat the paint is rubbed off and i know it is time to AI her. I will check them twice daily at milking

Hi, The cow in the video made a full recovery in 48 hours. DD is highly infectious and very painful it affects the skin around the rear foot - the horn/ hoof is not affected.. Not sure if it is the same as foot rot in sheep - I try to avoid sheep as much as possible - Thats someone else’s job :)

yeah it works wel we are happy with it wot do you fink to the pincers we use?????

Hey thanks Some great advice there ! The dry cow tube sounds interesting Never heard of that before.

well done anova gr8 video! we treat dig by washing d foot same as you den sprayin it with teramicin den coppersulphate n matitus tube (penacilin) and a bandage around it all! works well result in 24 hrs!

well done anova good video, we treat dig dermatitus by washin d foot same as u den with termincin spray, also follow by copper sulphate n a dry cow tube(penacilin) den a bandage to hold it all together!

How long until her foot heals?
Is DD like foot rot in sheep?

How does the tail paint work?

They always make a very quick recovery when treated this way although it is time consuming compared to a quick spray to foot in the parlour. If you do a search of my older vids you will find one or two of the milking parlour. I might make a new one sometime. I have to bring in extra lighting so shoot video in parlour which takes a lot of time to set up.

hope she has a quick recovery, can you ever show us a video of you actually milking your holsteins please, i’d love to see you parlour.

please reply as to wether it is possible, thanks, hope all is going well up there.
