Why does my eczema flare up when the weather changes?

Why does my eczema flare up when the weather changes?
Throughout many years of having eczema I have noticed that whenever the season changes, my eczema will flare up.
I am not looking for treatments to help me not itch but just a simple explanation on how the seasons affect it.

The air gets really dry when the weather turns cold which in turn dries out your skin.
